The Northstate Science Story

This blog was originally started back in the early 2000s, mostly as a response to the creationist and intelligent design infections in science education. It expanded to other topics including critiques of religion, combating the spread of misinformation regarding archaeology and biblical texts and of course strayed into politics and other aspects of the culture wars. Dr. O’Brien stopped blogging here in 2011 as his career took him into more time consuming positions addressing land management issues. However, he has recently returned to the field in which he was originally trained and sees an opportunity to revise the blog. Being forced to Seeing a necessity to engage on social media, Dr. O’Brien also started Instagram (in the making) and TikTok versions of this blog.

Welcome to Northstate Science, a blog dedicated to bringing education and evidence to a world increasingly hostile to both. Here I will combat the misinformation about science (anthropology in particular), discuss politics and religion from time to time, and occasionally throw in some random musings and adventures.
